THE FUTURE IS HUMAN

Yesterday, while scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed, I saw that a friend of mine updated her cover photo that read "The future is female, #Feminism". For a moment, i felt both pity and sad for her. Pity because her statement was self-contradicting with the hashtag while Sad because people have totally forgotten the essence of feminism and are stuck in the web of pseudo-social trends.

The start of Feminism dates back to the World War era where after thousands of casualties of mostly men, women started to actively participate in the work sphere. This created a spark amongst women throughout the world and they started to stand for their right to speak, work and establish themselves as equal citizens.

They never intended to establish superiority over the other gender nor did they aim to deprive men of their rights. Rather feminists advocated the rights of women on the ground of the equality of the sexes. Overtime, feminism has lost its charm and essence, majorly because of lack of knowledge. The movement has taken an unfortunate turn and seems to be more anti-men than pro woman, therefore contradicting its own literal definition. The blame however does not go to the campaign but instead to its followers.

I left a comment on my friend’s post that read, “The future is not female my friend and it is definitely not male, the future is human, #togetherwestand” The day we adopt this approach is the day we will be able to progress and learn to repect each other.
